Andy Riley: The Book of Bunny Suicides and The Return of the Bunny Suicides

Original title: The Book of Bunny Suicides and Return of the Bunny Suicides
Original language: English
Publication Date: 2003 and 2004
Rating: Okay

few years ago, during a visit to a comic book store (one of those visits always start with the misleading premise that "I go just to look, I will not buy anything"), I found a book of orange caps called The Book of Bunny Suicides , whose cover looked a toaster by poking the ears of a rabbit. Intrigued by the cape of the image, I grabbed him and threw him out. To my surprise, the picture of the cover was nothing compared with what might be inside: bunnies build intricate machines designed to kill them, leaving bunnies go through javelins, with corkscrew suicide, poisoning, defeating Sauron (!) To vent their anger against them ... A gallery of atrocities that did emerge a giggling while made me think "but how awful."

I bought the book, yes, and I laughed a lot (and I felt a little guilty about laughing) I could not but be surprised when, the following year, appeared before me Return of the Bunny Suicides , a compilation of stories in which the rabbits continued to show their unorthodox methods of suicide. So I bought and I laughed a lot. And I grew to feel guilty, because, face it, the stories that appear in both booklets are the most cruel.

Perhaps what happens is that animals are so unreal and therefore does not seem so bad to laugh. Because, after all, know that what you see here is not true. Because if you put into practice any of these ways to end with a rabbit, do not think anyone would laugh at least. So is the same as with Saw (relatively speaking), which, by dint of trying to get more violent and unpleasant act imaginable, and not impressive and only if it's funny when it should be scary.

But bunnies are made for a laugh. And yes, you laugh. When you are with the second book the subject becomes a bit repetitive (normal), but recognize that Riley has a very bad milk and lots of imagination. Not that occupy a special place in my shelf, but hey, take a look from time to time and make your day is all one. And that is appreciated.
